What is Assisted Living?

Assisted Living is a long-term care option for individuals who require supervision or assistance with one or more Activities of Daily Living (ADLs). ADLs include, but are not limited to: bathing, dressing, grooming, meal preparation, eating, taking medication, walking, toileting, and continence management. HuntLeigh Care Homes is an assisted living and memory care ‘Residential Care Home’. This means assisted living and memory care services are provided in a residential home. HuntLeigh Care Homes has a limited number of residents so the staff to resident ratio is much higher and the care is more personal. Most often there is one caregiver for every three or four residents. For those suffering from Alzheimer's disease or other kinds of dementia, our small residential care homes are ideal. Compared to facilities, we have fewer people our residents have to deal with, our number of staff is smaller and more consistent, and we offer a lot of close supervision and support for our residents. Our smaller home environment can lower anxiety and stress for those who might be intimidated or overstimulated by larger communities. HuntLeigh Care Homes offers three Residential Care Home options in quiet, upscale Frisco neighborhoods.

What is the Cost?

Assisted living care is typically paid for from the private funds of the residents and/or their families. Some long-term care insurance policies cover licensed assisted living. War veterans or spouses of a war veteran might qualify for Veteran’s Benefits (The VA Aid and Attendance Program) which can be used to help pay for assisted living care.

As with most assisted living providers, HuntLeigh Care Homes charges a basic month-to-month rate which covers all basic living expenses such as rent, utilities, and food.  It also covers 24-hour supervision and assistance with daily needs, housekeeping, health monitoring services, and social activities.  HuntLeigh Care Homes assisted living care is less expensive than in-home health services or nursing home care in Frisco and surrounding areas. A cost for a live-in caregiver can range from $300 to $500 a day or $9,000 - $15,000 a month.

HuntLeigh Care Homes is licensed by Texas Health and Human Services (THHS). We are licensed as a small “Type B” Assisted Living and certified for Alzheimer’s. Texas Health and Human Services (THHS) licenses and inspects assisted living facilities to ensure compliance with state regulations. Through these regulatory activities, Texas Health and Human Services (THHS) protects Texas citizens who receive long-term care services.

"My father-in-law moved into the Waverly location after multiple stays in rehabilitation due to advanced Parkinson's disease. We were so relieved to find a place that could assist him with his increasing daily care and medical needs that also felt like home. We were impressed not only with the home environment, but with the care that he received from the staff. In particular, caregivers Perla and Catona took special care to update the family in a timely manner when any issue arose, while also making sure that we had peace of mind that he was well attended. We were always warmly welcomed when we came by to visit. As owner of Huntleigh Care Homes, Hunt was incredibly responsive and knowledgeable. We were so impressed with his commitment and hands on approach in the daily operations of care. In a time of great stress, Huntleigh Homes served as an anchor to help us in caring for our loved one!”

"We have had the pleasure of working with HuntLeigh Care Homes for the past seven years. The owners, husband and wife-Hunt and Leigh, got into this business because they saw a need for high quality, round-the-clock care in a personalized, non-institutional setting. Their homes are meticulously maintained, well decorated and lovely to look at. And as those of us in this industry know, the true value lies in the care for the residents. HuntLeigh's vision hasn't faltered.

They want to deliver the highest level of medical and custodial care for their residents. Their low caregiver-to-resident ratio makes this possible. The caregivers are constantly working. They are upbeat, warmhearted women who truly enjoy their work. In this industry, caregiver turnover is high. Hunt has been able to retain his caregivers for years. This is probably indicative of his treating his staff with the same generosity and compassion he shows to his residents. Hunt takes on each resident as if it were his own family member. He understands the complexity caring for elderly people and individualizes their care to maximize that person's quality of life. HuntLeigh has created a enviable standard that should be a role model in this industry.”

"We moved my mom in to HuntLeigh Care Home almost 3 years ago. Prior to that she had been in an assisted living/memory care facility. I am so thankful to God that we moved her. She has the best care! Her caregivers treat her like family. There is always someone there for her. I never have to worry. Her home is clean, meals are fresh, she is clean, not ignored, and I know she’s happy. If at some point in my life I need special care, I want to live in a HuntLeigh home.”

"Our family has been dealing with Assisted Living facilities for years and there is NO place like HuntLeigh. When you come here you've found home for your love one. The care givers are awesome, they care about the people they take care of and treat them with respect and dignity. The facilities we've dealt with should all have their doors closed...they want big money, but do not take care of your love ones. Thank God we found HuntLeigh for my husband because he was finally taken care of in the proper way. If you have not already called HuntLeigh you should do that right now because there might be a waiting list and you want to put your love one there as soon as possible. We love Hunt, Leigh and the caregivers and will always be grateful to them for the care they gave my husband.”
